Information for New Families

If you are new to Cub Scouting, see this link for information on how Cub Scouts is organized, and this link for general information about Cub Scouts.

Pack 40 was established in February 1958. We have been an active Pack in Hanover Township for over 60 years! Our Chartered Organization is Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church in Cedar Knolls. Our Pack Leadership is dedicated to providing an exceptional program to the Scouts and families of Pack 40. Some of our Leaders have been in the Pack for many years, some are Eagle Scouts, former Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, and some are new to Scouting and have immersed themselves in the values and ideals of Scouting. All of our Leaders strive to shape our Scouts into well rounded citizens who live their lives by the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.

The majority of our dens meet 2 times a month, on Sunday afternoons. Our Pack meets one Friday a month. Dens are organized by ranks, which are based on grades: Lions - Kindergarten, Tigers - 1st, Wolves - 2nd, Bears - 3rd, Webelos - 4th and Arrow of Light - 5th. Scouts work on the requirements for their current rank at the den meetings. All dens come together at the monthly Pack meetings, where we have fun activities, acknowledge awards earned, and discuss upcoming events. We camp out at least 2 times a year, we do many service projects for local organizations, we go hiking and plan many fun events as a Pack throughout the year.

To join our Pack, families need to complete a Youth Application and pay dues. Our Pack also requires families to complete a Photo Release Form, Family Talent Survey form and a ScoutsBSA Health Form. All of these documents can be found on our Documents page. The Youth Application can be filled out online, or a paper copy can be completed and handed in at a Pack meeting.
